Welcome to the third edition of Oman desert marathon to be held from 06 to 13 November 2015 ,in desert of Bidayah in The Sultanate of Oman we invite you to share this exceptional adventure. One of the most beautiful Sporting events on sand and an extreme challenge in an amazing decor in the heart of the desert. The desert of Oman,its immense dunes,its lush palms. The hosting of its inhabitants is known around the world that is extraordinary,it’s the most fascinating.The desert of Oman immunese dunes are extended out of sight.Its ancient caravans perpetuated until today are a really daydream,a call to inner place. The serenity that emanates of this place,it’s a place of well-being.This adventure is possible for athletes and even for less energetic. Oman desert marathon is a race of 165 Km (6 stages ) the runners carry their equipments,a sleeping bags and food during their adventure
The second Oman Desert Marathon, to be held from November 7 to 14 in the Bidiya Desert, Sultanate of Oman. The exceptional marathon adventure is one of the most extraordinary sporting events on sand, and an extreme challenge in the amazing and beautiful desert scenery. The Oman desert, with its immense dunes and lush palms, is fascinating. The dunes extend beyond the horizon, and the hospitality of its inhabitants is known around the world. The spirit of the ancient caravans can still be felt in this amazing atmosphere, encouraging not only top athletes, but also less energetic runners.
The Oman Desert Marathon is a 165 km race run in six stages. Runners carry their equipment, their sleeping bags and their food during the adventure. The Oman Desert Marathon was praised as "one of the top 10 desert marathons in the world," and "one of the 100 Great Races." This unique and very popular point-to-point Oman Desert Marathon starts at Bidiya Sands.
Its worldwide participants are provided spectacular views of the golden sand dunes and the oases street at Bidiya. The target of the organisers are to support tourism and the economy through the creation of this type of adventure sport which attracts millions of people in the world. It is hoped that the marathon will attract foreign tourism through distinctive global coverage that will accompany the event, which will help in promoting the Sultanate as a distinctive tourist destination in the world map. This will impact on reviving the economic situation in the Sultanate in general and the Wiliyat Bidiya in particular. Top runners taking part are Rachid El Morabity, Mustapha Ait Amar and Aziza Raji from Morocco; Salameh Al Aqra and Mohammed Al Swaiti from Jordan, Juan-Maria Jimenez from Spain, Benoit Laval from France and Glyva Evhgenii from Ukraine.
